New York State Brewers Association Announces 2026 Board of Directors

The New York State Brewers Association (NYSBA) is proud to announce its 2026 Board of Directors, a group of dedicated industry leaders committed to supporting New York’s more than 500 independent breweries and advancing the state’s vibrant craft beer community.
The Board plays a critical role in guiding the association’s strategic direction and leading the NYSBA’s mission of supporting New York’s more than 500 independent craft breweries through legislative advocacy, education, and promotion.
“This year’s Board is exceptionally well positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead,” said Executive Director Paul Leone. “Under the leadership of our first female President in our history, Dawn Schulz, the industry remains in strong hands, and New York State craft beer continues to lead with resilience, innovation, and purpose.”
Newly elected President Dawn Schulz shared her enthusiasm for the year ahead.
“Working with the NYSBA board always brings me back to why I fell in love with craft beer in the first place — not just the beer, but the people. There’s a shared sense of purpose in this industry, camaraderie, resilience, and a deep belief that when one brewery succeeds, we all do. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve in 2026.”
The Board also welcomes new Hudson Valley representative Christopher Basso, who emphasized the importance of regional representation and collaboration.
“I’m honored to join a board that has already done so much for New York’s craft beer community. Being born and raised in the Hudson Valley, it means a great deal to now represent this region and its breweries. There are challenges ahead, but with the dedication I’ve already seen from this board, the NYSBA staff, and our members, I’m confident we’ll face them together.”
Vice President Jeff Ware noted the group’s focus on supporting Association’s mission.
“Looking forward to working with this great group of people. The team understands the challenges facing our members across the state and is eager to push the mission of the NYSBA.”
Outgoing President Hutch Kugeman, now serving as First Past President, reflected on the organization’s progress.
“The NYSBA board and staff are talented and dedicated people working hard to support NY breweries and get more NY beer into the hands of New Yorkers. I’m proud of the work we have done over the last few years, and I’m honored I was able to contribute in a small way. By design the board is always evolving and I’m excited to see what these next few years will bring under the leadership of our new President, Dawn Schultz. Think NY Drink NY!”
Together, the NYSBA Board of Directors represents breweries from across the state and works alongside staff and members to strengthen the industry, support local businesses, and encourage consumers to Think NY, Drink NY®.
